Put Saturday 28th January in your diary now and knit your way through the UK’s most exciting new theatre, film, music and dance artists for the eye-popping, spine-tingling Fresh festival.  Anyone lucky enough to attend last May’s brilliant event will remember how Fresh electrified the arts centre with the infectious energies of the festival’s young artists who were packed into every nook and cranny!

South Hill Park are expanding the festival for 2006, kicking off with an all-day event on 28th January. Fresh will once again be filling up the arts centre with weird and wonderful performances.  You can expect to find amazing new theatre and dance shows as well as off-the-wall music sets, films and even some performances for audiences of one!  And when it all gets a bit too much you can relax and knit in the arts centre’s atrium bar before diving back into this carnival of delights!

As well as an opportunity to bring your own knitting, yarns and needles will be available for complete beginners and knitters will be on hand to pass on their skills. You don’t have to be a theatre expert to have a great time at Fresh.

This event will be followed by weekly shows in South Hill Park’s intimate studio theatre by the crème-de-la-crème of the UK’s emerging theatre companies including Cardiff’s magnificent Equaldoubt, Manchester’s brilliant Ben Faulks and South Hill Park’s own resident company, Demonstrate.  Some of the shows will be billed alongside a new Wednesday night cabaret that will feature the best of the region’s acts – and if you book for the cabaret, you can ‘pay what you can’ for the studio theatre shows!  This is a very special opportunity to see some real gems by up and coming companies who will be packing out top West End theatres in the not too distant future – so catch them while they’re cheap!

Come knitting on 28th January for a truly exhilarating day out and a taster of what’s in store over the rest of the festival!
