If you were lucky enough to attend one of the UK Hand Knitting Association's seminars at The Knitting and Stitching Show, Alexandra Palace, you would have heard Katy Bevan, (Crafts Council's Participation and Learning Manager) and Erika Knight (Knitting author) explaining the role of knitting in the classroom and how easy it is to get materials together and teach exciting projects to eager children.
Here are the comments we received from some of the attendees:
"I attended your "encouraging
craft in the classroom" talk at the Alexandra Palace knitting Expo
yesterday (Friday 10th October)
I am a mother that has started a knitting club with one of
the teachers at my daughter's school St Johns in Kingston upon
Thames.
so far we have 10 children, we are aiming to have 50 by xmas.
The club has been going for 3 weeks and so far 2 new children
have been joining every week. The talk with Erika and Katy
was wonderful and gave me lots of new ideas, and changed my
ideas on how to go forward. Thank you so much ladies."
