Wallace and Grommit At The Party

Bristol Zoo was the setting for a very special PicKnit in September as Aardman favourites Wallace and Gromit visited the zoo and took part in the Shaun the Sheep PicKnit Challenge.
The knitting event backed by Simply Knitting, the UKHKA and the ICHF is encouraging people of all ages to get knitting and make something found at a picnic for a life-size display that will tour the country next year.
The Simply Knitting team took over the zoo at the kid’s fun day and put down their blankets and showed everyone how to get started.
Debora Bradley, Editor of Simply Knitting said: “We’re always happy to help people get started, and we were thrilled to see that lots of kids came to have a look and stayed to put a few rows on their first scarf. They were pleased to be able to take away a fab starter kit from the UKHKA, and we were soon wishing we’d brought a few more expert knitters with us!”
There was fun for all ages and the little ones who were a bit too young to start knitting enjoyed playing with the knitted food and visitors had great fun spotting their favourite cakes and sandwiches that have already been knitted.
The day was made complete by the arrival of Simply Knitting readers Janet and Mave who brought along the life-sized knitted Shaun the Sheep!
