We need your help!

Relax and Knit, Harrogate. 24th - 25th May 2005

Event: Countryside Days for Primary School Children

We need volunteers to help on the 24th and 25th May between 10.00 - 3.30pm at the Great Yorkshire Showground nr Harrogate.  We will be doing workshops on French knitting with the children and need 2 or 3 helpers on each day.  It will be lots of fun and very satisfying to get all these children knitting in red textured yarns.
The results of all their knitting will be made into a mural and donated to a hospice/hospital or other public place in Yorkshire.
We are happy to accept help from anyone, however basic their knitting skills might be. As with the Relax and Knits, we can create a rota to accommodate those people that can only spare a few hours.
Location of the showground and all other details are available.

UK Hand Knitting participated in lots of creative craft consumer shows around the country last year.

We have been extremely grateful for all the generous help from knitting and crochet enthusiasts who have given up their time to pass on their knitting and crochet skills at previous shows up and down the country, supporting our campaign to convey the joy of yarn crafts to the next generation. However we will still need extra pairs of hands in 2005!

The fabulous yarns and the sight of people knitting tempts visitors at the shows to take a break and sit and learn to knit. The sheer pleasure of handling the yarns is a real stress buster so hand knitting not only satisfies the fashion conscious but also provides a perfect therapy, bringing a sense of calm to the constant rush and pressure of life today.

There have never been so many fantastic yarns with colours and textures to suit every taste, style and pocket. Not only is the current trend for chunky knits encouraging complete newcomers to the craft, but it is also rekindling the interest of lapsed knitters. The enthusiasm extends to crochet, which is also very 'hot' again with accessories such as bags and scarves are proving really popular. There is also a keen interest in home accessories such as knitted or crocheted cushion covers and throws.

What UK Hand Knitting would appreciate now is your help in the future consumer shows. We need knitters and crocheters to give a few hours of their time to pass on their skills to newcomers to the craft. You don't need to be an expert, as long as you have basic skills in knitting or crochet (not necessarily both). It is your enthusiasm that is more important than anything else.

Relax and Knit stands are sponsored by the BHKC

Come along and learn to knit or, if you can already, come and pass on your skills to people that come along to learn!  All knitters and crocheters welcome.

"Do you live in the Cardiff Area? If you do we would love to welcome you on our Relax and Knit stand to pass on your skills. So long as you can knit, or crochet, however basic, these are the only requirements. Just contact us via email and we will ensure that you have free entry and all the information that you need."
