CREATING A FUTURE GENERATION OF KNITTERS

Thousands of young people have been introduced to knitting and crochet on Relax and Knit stands at consumer shows around the country.  Many knitting enthusiasts give their time generously at the BHKC sponsored Relax and Knits, making knitting and crochet accessible and tempting to newcomers. Having seen pictures and read about celebrities who have taken up this new hobby in their favourite magazines, young people are already wanting to learn.  By providing one-to-one tuition, there is always a constant stream of people anxious to pick up the basic ‘know how’.

It is thanks to the generous support of ICHF and Creative Exhibitions who give the friendly venue for these relaxing and rewarding workshops at their shows and to the BHKC who provide yarn and needles and a step-by-step fact sheet for all those jubilant young knitters who proudly showing off their first few stitches. It is this enthusiasm that provides the motivation and reward for the volunteers that come to help at the shows on a regular basis.
