Big needles, small girl!

Julia Hopson of 'Knit Wits' Penzance was invited by Annette Knight (Ravelry enthusiast) to knit with her Guinness World Record knitting needles at the WWKIPD in Truro, Cornwall. Julia knitted with 50 strands of Cornish Organic Wool and, as ever, the sight proved to be a crowd pleaser! Several locals “had a go” including one game rugby player from St Ives Rugby Club, who entered into the spirit of the day with gusto. Julia knitted a huge rectangle in garter stitch which is currently being machine felted (with mixed results) to convert it into a rug.

Yarn stalls at the show

People travelled from far and near to visit SKOS this year. There were coach parties from Belfast, Yorkshire, Aberdeenshire and Ayrshire. Sixteen stands were spread over two floors with yarn and wool for both machine and hand knitters. The Fashion Show was organised and presented by the Perth Knitting Club, who's theme was 'wedding dresses'. There was a 'hands on' area where anyone could try the knitting for themselves and several of the stallholders gave talks and lectures during the day.
