GARDEN PATH

Background

With a dark brown DK and 4mm needles, cast on 150 sts and work 2 metres St St. Cast off.

Crazy Paving Pieces

With grey or beige chunky (or DK used double) and 6mm needles, cast on 20 sts. Work in garter throughout. Inc at beg of alt rows to approx 12cm then dec at same edge of every 3rd row until all sts are worked off.

Make other pieces, casting on different numbers of sts and working more or less rows between increasing and decreasing to give different shapes. Make some pieces rectangular.

Moss

With green DK and 4mm needles, cast on 5 sts and work in moss st. Increase and decrease at either end of rows to give irregular shape. Cast off when piece seems big enough.

Flowering Plants

Work as for moss but also work small bobbles at random in a contrast yarn by working

(Ki, P1, Kl) all into a knit stitch, turn, K these 3 sts, turm, p3tog

These flowering plants can be varied by working them in double moss St or making bigger bobbles on more sts. Some could also be made with just one stitch in a contrast yarn.

Stitch the paving Stones to the background with plants in some of the gaps. Pull a few strands of green wool through the background to look like grass.
