Aardman Animation's hero, Shaun the Sheep, has now got his very own series on the BBC and what better way to celebrate than leading a brand-new countrywide knitting campaign!"Shaun The Sheep's PicKnit Challenge" is supported by Aardman together with the UK Hand Knitting Association, Simply Knitting magazine and ICHF exhibitions.

We’d like you all to get involved in knitting something towards a life-size picnic – let your imagination run wild and recreate your picnic memories. Sunshiney days with frisbees, beach balls and ice-creams or kites, rugs and windbreak reminiscent of the more breezy occasions. Our less than predictable weather never stops us having fun! Work in progress will go on show in the special PicKnit area of Creative Stitches and Hobbycraft Shows this Autumn (see list below).

The PicKnit area (formerly the Knit'n'Natter area) also provides the perfect opportunity for you to join in the knitting frenzy or to learn to knit on a one-to-one basis for free. Just as the life-sized Knitted Garden was a huge success last year, we're hoping that as many people as possible will join in the fun and contribute a woolly sarnie or cake or two!

How You Can Get Involved:

If you're a member of a Knitting group, or you own a wool shop or you just love knitting - we'd love you to organize special picnic events across the UK from now until the end of the year, each destined to be a ‘grand day out’. Bring your needles and yarn and a real picnic and you can get cracking on your own creations towards the mega Knitted Picnic whilst socialising and raising money for the Wallace & Gromit Children’s Foundation at the same time. (The foundation raises funds to improve the quality of life for children in hospitals and hospices throughout the UK.)
